One of the hottest trends in hen’s day and wedding catering is the addition of a candy buffet, dessert buffet or high tea.
If you’ve never heard of these wedding catering options …
Candy Buffets offer your guests a selection of sweets and they can pick their favourites, creating their own personalised party bag! The candy included is only limited to your imagination.
Dessert Buffets change your wedding dessert from a limited choice to an extravaganza of delicious options. You can also consider a smaller wedding cake (and save some money into the mix) by complement your wedding cake with other desserts.
The candy and dessert buffets add a hugely fun element to your wedding reception. Their presentation can be tailored to fit with your wedding theme and they give your guests the perfect place to mingle and get to know each other!
High Tea is a stylish way to start your hen’s day celebrations and include some of the older folk that might not want to hit the town with you and your friends. High tea is usually made up of gourmet cakes, tarts, biscuits, scones and sandwiches with berry compotes and fresh cream.
We spoke to Pam Thexton from La Tea Da who create themed candy buffets for weddings and gourmet high teas for hen parties. Pam said, “When it comes to the candy buffets we often find it’s the groom with the sweet tooth and they love the chance to pick all their childhood favourites. Although a multi-coloured candy buffet creates a wonderful party atmosphere, we can create a stunning display that matches your wedding theme and colour scheme – from the lollies and sweets right down to the font we use on the tags.”
High tea for hen’s parties is a favourite of Pams and she explains, “Serving high tea creates a lovely atmosphere without filling everyone up with heavy food. Our high tea is homemade and served on beautiful vintage table settings with 3-tiered cake stands for each table. It always looks so pretty and stylish regardless of the location.”
Have you been to wedding with a candy buffet or dessert? What did you think?
La Tea Da can dazzle your guests with a beautiful candy creation at your wedding or special event. La Tea Da creates a stunning display with modern and classic buffet glassware, scoops, tongs, customised bags or boxes and a selection of quality sweets. A La Tea Da ‘Kandy Buffet’ is a wonderful way of saying thank you to your guests for their attendance. Let La Tea Da take the worry away from your event by allowing me to organise your sweet presentation. La Tea Da can also arrange a High Tea for any occasion – a beautiful selection of gourmet cakes, tarts and biscuits, scones served with berry compote and fresh cream, a variety of sandwiches with delicious fillings, all served on beautiful vintage table settings and three tiered cake stands in the comfort of your own home or garden. A strong statement has been made this week by one of the world's most influential bridal designers, Vera Wang, debuting a unique line of black wedding dresses. The 15-piece collection unveiled in New York featured dramatic black ‘dark art’ (gothic?) wedding dresses made of lace, tulle and organza.
Wang is certainly no stranger to subverting tradition, with the celebrity dress designer having already created gowns in dove grey and mint, but took it a step further this year showing that a black wedding dress may no longer be taboo. While we've already seen trends in short wedding dresses and even colourful wedding dresses, surely white bridalwear is going nowhere…
Yes indeed, the fashion powerhouse herself Sarah Jessica Parker DID wear black on her big day back in 1997, but moreso to fool the paparazzi rather than tearing up bridal rule books. Do you see this range by Vera Wang marking a turning tide in wedding fashion trends? We’re always excited to see something different, but what statement would a black wedding dress make when black is traditionally the colour of mourning?

Spring is here and there are some big bridal fashion trends making their way around the world at the moment. As one of the Australia’s best bridal resources we’ve got the inside track and we’re sharing it with you ….
One of the main focuses for bridal fashion in Spring 2011 is detail. Ruffles and lace, accessories and gems are creating an effortless and feminine bridal style.
Cinderella had some special shoes so why shouldn’t you? This spring’s wedding shoe trend is all about flowers and bows. Whether your ruffle is on your toes or at your ankle you will add a stylish detail and a touch of feminine grace to the usual bridal footwear. You will feel ultra girly and so you should! You don’t have to choose just one bridal accessory because Spring 2011 sees the emergence of long layered jewellery and accent jewellery. Long layered bridal jewellery gives you an elegant and glamorous look, befitting a bride, and accent jewellery can create impact, with elegant and unique pieces with a modern twist.

Bridal hair accessories like headpieces and headbands are coming back in a big way in Spring 2011 with short veils, tiaras, flowers and gems creating a look that’s sweet, vintage or simply drop dead stylish. Wedding headpieces are a gorgeous alternative to a long, traditional veil! Image By TM Photography
