How To Choose Your Wedding Reception Entertainment

How To Choose Your Wedding Reception Entertainment

Once you make it through your wedding ceremony, your wedding photography, kissing all your aunts and uncles and making your wedding speeches, you are going to be ready to relax and have some fun. And so will your guests!

These days you have a lot (and we mean a lot) of choices when it comes to wedding entertainment for your reception. You could have a live wedding band and singer, a classical quartet, a photobooth or even event entertainers like magicians, fire breathers, hula dancers or burlesquer performers! There is so much talent within Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Central Coast! Click here for our suggested local wedding reception entertainment options.

How do you decide? This is where Newcastle Bride can help.

When choosing your wedding reception entertainment you need to consider:

1. Your wedding budget.

Christina Aguilera might be your number one choice but it’s important to be realistic about how much money you have to spend on your wedding reception entertainment. Of course if you have the budget for Christina, can we come to your wedding?

2. The kind of mood you want to create at your wedding reception.

This will have a lot to do with your wedding theme and your personality as a couple, but the answer will help you narrow down your choices for wedding entertainment.

3. The location of your wedding reception.

A live 15 piece jazz band will definitely get your wedding guests moving but does your reception venue have the physical space? Be really clear about how much reception room you have available.

4. Applicable noise restrictions.

To avoid cutting the party short ask your wedding reception venue if there are any restrictions about noise levels, finish times and if you are considering live music, double check they will allow it.

5. The variety of tastes and ages you’ll have at your wedding.

While you might love raving out to techno beats on the weekend, your old Aunt Mavis is 87 and if she’s going to get up it’s going to be for some music from her generation. Your guests will have much more fun if you select wedding entertainment that will have a broad appeal.

6. Whether you want to make requests.

Some wedding entertainers will happily play your favourite song but others may not be so accommodating. Like many things, don’t assume. Ask them upfront.

And don’t forget, try and see your performer in action before the wedding reception!

We’d love to hear your ideas for your wedding reception entertainment or the challenges you’ve faced in trying to find them. Leave your comments and stories below – maybe we can help!
