Preserve your Bridal Bouquet

Bridal Bouquets can last a lifetime if you decide to have them dried, pressed or framed. Your flowers will need to be in good condition, so this process should be completed quickly after your wedding day – the day immediately after is best for optimal results.

Change Your Name

The majority of brides still take on their husband’s name. Less traditional options include making a new surname comprising the bride’s maiden name and the husband’s surname or keeping your maiden name only. The decision is completely personal and you are not legally obliged to change your name. If you do decide to change your name, you’ll need to notify your employer; financial and insurance institutions; health care providers; relevant government departments including the RTA, the Electoral Commission and Centrelink; your utility companies; Phone Company; Solicitor and any other applicable clubs and organisations.

Send Out Your Thank Yous

Its best to be punctual when sending out your thank yous – people will love to hear that your appreciated their presence on your special day and it is polite to give thanks for gifts and wishing well contributions.

Decide what to do with your Wedding Dress

Keep it or sell it? Its best not to make a decision straight away to avoid regrets. Many people hold their wedding dress close to their hearts as a sentimental reminder of their special wedding day. If you decide to keep your gown, we recommend arranging for a professional to clean and box it. You will need to approach your local Dry Cleaner to arrange this, or you could speak to your Bridalwear Boutique to ask for recommendations. If you decide that selling your wedding dress is a better option, you’ll need to decide whether you’ll rely on word of mouth or use paid advertising such as a local newspaper, eBay or by consignment through a specialist dealing in second hand wedding gowns. Even if you are selling your gown, you may still wish to have it dry cleaned to improve its presentation.

Collect Your Wedding Photos and Video

The most exciting thing about returning from your honeymoon (besides opening your presents if you haven’t already done so!) is viewing your wedding photos and video footage. Make an appointment with your Photographer to collect your wedding proofs or album and with your Videographer to preview your wedding footage.

Combine Finances and Assets

You may wish to speak to your local financier or accountant about how to best join your finances and assets with your husband. You might be better off combining any existing loans. If you are only just moving in together, you might find you now have two sets of whitegoods and other household items. Investigate selling any items you nolonger need on eBay, in your local newspaper or hold a garage sale!
